The ‘Tea Party in the Mayoral Garden’ is a mixed media artwork by Ruth Downes in which 40 tea cups and saucers are displayed together as a ‘tea partea’.

It was one of 30 finalists in the inaugural National Sculpture Prize at the National Gallery of Australia (NGA) in 2001.  It also won the People’s Choice Award at the NGA and went on to tour the US and regional Australian galleries over the following 10 years.
